I was talking to Luce about this the other day but...

Now, I don't want you to think I'm unstable. I was never fully comfortable with being a hawk. It was difficult for me to imagine, draw, and identify with. While I think hawks are awesome, and I totally respect them, I just can't be one. I don't have the behavioral, personality, and physical characteristics. So, from now on, I am henceforth a lion.

Get in the car.

Where have I been?

Nowhere. I just haven't posted.

Most of you have stopped reading this. I think only Rion still even visits LJ anymore. It's sad. I like sharing my life.

Anyway, I've been working at Gamestop. I work very little hours, so it's not like I'm really busy. It's pretty fun, mostly because you get to chat with the customers about games and the like. It's about as fun as retail can be. It's great because I get 15% employee discounts on everything! I saved like $20 on Guitar Hero III, and today I bought the last Halo 3 wallet we had (I needed a new wallet) and Metroid: Zero Mission (which I've been craving to play for a long time) using that $20 bucks I saved from GHIII. Sweet deal!

Anyway, my review on Guitar Hero III for Wii:

Fun game. I especially enjoy the new guitar style. Interchangeable faceplates and removable neck = many customization opportunities. As far as gameplay goes, it's a little different from GH I and II, seeing as how Harmonix kept the game code when they sold the GH rights to Neversoft, so they had to start from scratch. If you've played any of the other games, it's not hard to get used to, though. Some familiar faces return from the previous game. Izzy is looking particularly fabulous, and Umlaut is looking more awesome than ever. The song list is the best of all three, featuring such awesomeness as One, La Grange, and Knights of Cydonia. Combine this with campaign mode that has boss duels with famous guitarists and actual animated cutscenes (some which are pretty funny) and you've got yourself a winner! I personally like playing online. It's a fun break from playing by yourself (seeing as how they've yet to release separate controllers for sale). Also, with the Wii-mote plugged in, the controller vibrates when you use Star Power. It's an awesome feeling, trust me.

This game gets a 9.125/10

And that's it for now.

Dreams...

Oct. 6th, 2007 | 06:26 pm
Mood: thoughtful thoughtful
Music: Korn - Evolution

I had this dream last night.  I dreamt that I went back in time.  Though, I didn't go very far, only 4 years.  I visited myself at the start of 8th grade.  My past self freaked out, and so did everyone who knew me back then and saw me now, 4 years older, but I didn't let too many people see me.  I told me to stop being such a dork.  To not bring Legos to school.  To stop stuffing your face and loose weight.  To stand up for yourself when being picked on and to fight back.  To stop crushing on Amber, because you will never get her, and she's just going to move to London and become addicted to heroine.  To not hang out with Easton and James and Trey, because they'll never accept you and you'll never be cool in there eyes.  To not make a fool of yourself at Emily's Halloween party.  To stop trying to dress cool, because trying to follow trends will get you nowhere.  To start listening to the first season of 2 Sense.  To stop talking about dorky stuff to people who don't care.  To keep your mouth shut.  I was angry at him.  I was in tears.  I was nearly screaming at him.  But he listened.  I listened.

Then I woke up.

One of the crew members on the radio show that I and thousands of other San Diegans came out as a furry today.  They were harassing him about it all morning.  I felt bad for him.  But he had like no balls.  He didn't even stand up for himself as the host of the show read the Wikipedia stub about sex in the furry fandom.   To the entire city of San Diego.  He didn't even read anything else in the article.

I felt so bad.  I tried calling in, but I couldn't get through.  The callers that did get through didn't say a kind word.  At least, when I left for school they had not.  I wonder if anyone did....  I guess I'll find out when they update the podcasts on the site.

Review of Metroid'(3)=Corruption

Sep. 2nd, 2007 | 06:48 pm
Location: Chair.
Mood: bittersweet bittersweet

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is one of the finest first person shooters I have ever played.  The control system is loads of fun, especially when you have to interact with your environment ( like turning a knob, you have to turn your Wii-mote).  My favorite control aspect has to be the Grapple Lasso.  You throw your left hand (holding the nunchuk) forward like you're cracking a whip, the grapple beam latches onto something in game, and you pull your hand back like theres no tomorrow, and whatever you latched onto flies apart (or comes toward you).

Graphics:
    Good:
            Very, very good.
            60 FPS
            Shiny and colorful
    Bad:
             A bit too much bloom

Music:
    Good:
             New score
New spins on on older song (Ridley's Theme, Norfair from Super Metroid, Samus's Theme)
    Bad:
A little too soft at times, even with the in-game volume on full.

Story:
    Good:
A nice ending to the Prime trilogy
    Bad:
A bit too linear, not as adventuresome as the rest of the Metroid games

Other little beefs I have with the game:
-Beam system:
Yeah sure it's stackable, but it's not "un-stackable" meaning I can't mix and match.
There are only 2 beam add-ons, making 3 beams in total, compared to the other Metroid games, where there were at least 4.
-Length:
       'Twas too short.

This game is THE best game on the Wii currently, and I can see it remaining on the list of top Wii games for a long time.  This game gets 4.75 Golden Hawk Eggs.  A beautiful end to the Prime trilogy.  I'm sad to see you go, Retro Studios.

And Sai, GEEV ME UR FREEND VOUCHERS!!

I have 1 day of vacation left.

So I'm doing all I can to get the most out of it.  Meaning playing a lot of Silkroad.  I won't have much time to during the school year.

Ehh... I have 2 four-hour practices for Jr. Crew.  One was today, the other, tomorrow.

I got my school schedual.  I'm in classes with all my friends.  Well, MOST of them.  I don't think Rob or Kelsey are in my classes.

And thats all.  It was a fun summer.  And I'm not ending it with an emo poem in my LJ like I did last year. :D

A CHALLENGER APPEARS!

Location: Chair.
Mood: plotting plotting
Music: Cars. They go WHOOOSH on the highway.

So, here's what I've been doing:

Nothing.

Bored as fuck.  Thought Matt's movie night was tonight, but it turns out I was WRONG.  It's Monday.  Bright side is, I get to sit at home alone for 5 hours tonight.  Last night I spent the evening at Yoav's playing Kirby's Adventure which I persuaded him to buy from the Virtual Console system on his Wii.  Seeing as how I own the GBA remake of the game, and thus know all the secrets, we beat it in like 3 hours, maybe?  Anyway, I stayed for dinner, did the whole Jew thing (Friday night is Shabbat), then lit off fireworks and came home.

Today I went all the way to Buttfuck east county to help set up for a Jr. Crew show.  I wasn't in the show because I just joined and don't know the routines fully yet.  But Science H. Logic was it hot!

Now for the reason this entry is called what it's called.   I just found out that the fucking church they spent all last year building next to our school village is in fact ANOTHER FUCKING SCHOOL!  A CHRISTIAN school, of all things.  A christian school right next to six other schools that revolve around the principals of science and, oh, I don't know, A BRAIN!  How does this sound to you?  High Tech High, right next to High Tech Middle, across the street from High Tech High International, kitty-korner to High Tech High Media Arts, High Middle Media Arts, and Explorer Elementary.  And, oh yeah, across the street from ROCK CHURCH.  The fuck are they thinking!? Our parking lots and exitways at the end of the day are crowded enough with the 6 schools and A FUCKING MALL that were there already!  Now ANOTHER SCHOOL!?

I will not take this lightly.  If they so much as put a pro Christianity poster ANYWHERE that isn't on their school, I WILL use guerrilla tactics when passing out information packets on THE TRUTH.  This is only the beginning, Rock Church.  *Gendo hands*

Zeitgeist

Aug. 3rd, 2007 | 06:32 pm
Location: Chair.
Mood: So fucking pissed off So fucking pissed off

I feel like I've been punched in gut.  Never before has a documentary actually made my pulse rise.  Never before has a documentary made me shit bricks.  Never before have I hated Christianity more.  Never before I have I been more aware.  Never before have I been compelled to shout "DON'T DO IT!!" to people who can't hear me and I who I know have already done it.

It seems every summer I grow more aware of what's really going on in our world.  Last year it was the discovery of the 2 Sense Show, which taught me to question my world and to call out the bullshit.  This summer it was Zeitgeist.  I learn more about the world during summer than I do during school.  Perhaps that's just the nature of the school setting, even if it's a kick-ass school like HTHI.

Now, I'm not going to turn into some bleeding heart liberal who thinks all big corporations are evil.  That's Matt's job.  But there are facts which cannot be ignored.  Zeitgeist is a movie that everyone in the world should see.  EVERYONE.  I don't care if they have to be strapped to a chair and their eyelids held open, they have to see it.  All (5) of you who read this, if you haven't watched it, watch it now.  Your world will never be the same.

Well hey there journal!  I guess I've been sorta neglecting you lately.  I've been reading other people's entries... but not posting any of mine.  Whoopsie!  ^^;

Anyway, stuffs.

So I went to ComicCon.  That was pretty cool.  I met some celebrities, got a bunch of free stuff, learned things about new stuff, walked.. you know, ComicCon.  I went on Thursday and on Saturday.  On Saturday, I cosplayed as Lexaeus from Kingdom Hearts II, re-using my Organization XIII cloak I made for Halloween for my Xigbar costume.

And then it was my mother's birthday.  And then my sister had her 2 month late birthday party.  And then I signed up for Jr. Crew.  Jr. Crew is basically Stomp, but for minors and such.  It's fun.  A lot of fun.

And that's life so far.  Bai.

DDR and Pokemans

Jul. 17th, 2007 | 09:37 pm
Location: Chair.
Mood: dorky dorky
Music: Butthole Surfers - Who Was in My Room Last Night

So I spent the majority of the day at Boomers playing DDR because of twelve buck Tuesday, or so I though.  I get there and the sign that has the prices on it says nothing about a twelve dollar wristband.  Just a $20 one.  So, thinking they discontinued the plan, I bought the $20 one.  When Yoav gets there, however, the lady actually tells him that they also offer a $12 one on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  THE FUCK!?  NOWHERE WAS THAT ADVERTISED!  The stupid lady at the counter didn't even bother to mention it, just charged me $20.  At least I got my money's worth.

On Saturday at 2:00pm there's going to be a Pokemon Tournament at the local GameStop.  I'm going to dominate.  The winner gets a copy of Pokemon Battle Revolution (already have it, but I'm sure I can find some use for it) and a Poketopia T-shirt.  2nd place winners get the shirt, and everyone who shows up gets a bookmark.  Sounds like fun.

And that's it for today!

I'm baaaaaaack~!  Well, almost.  I'm at my grandparents computer again, and I'll be completely back tomorrow night.

I had a great time in Oregasm.  Let me break it down:

July 3rd - 5th:

Left my grandparents house and arrived at my family friends' house in Medford.  Fucking shit that place is hot.  On the fourth I didn't get to launch many fireworks because the fields were so dry, so I just hung out with Jordan and Austin, who are my age and two years younger respectively.  I did pound a few Piccolo Petes so they turned into M80s, and made a few loud sounds.

July 5th - 8th:

Left Medford and arrived at my Grandma's house in Portland.  The first night we pretty much did nothing, but on the 6th we went out to my cousin's house in Beavercreek.  Holy shit, my cousins are crazy.  They're twins, by the way.  So Blake comes out to the car right as we pull up and instantly drags my to the barn where Alex is working on his jet-ski that he found submerged at they're lake house.  Blake and I start making firework bombs.  At first, we dumped out all of the powder inside the Piccolo Petes and putting it in small containers and lighting it.  But, we ended up settling on just stuffing smashed Petes into empty energy drink cans and throwing them like frag grenades, because they essentially were.  I think Blake is still picking up shrapnel.  They had a fridge full of jerky, so I tried some and they were delicious.  I found out 3 seconds later that it was deer meat.  The same deer that my Uncle Dale ran over. .....It was tasty.  Later we tore up the property on dirtbikes and finally got Alex's jet-ski running.  The 7th was my sister's birthday.  Now she goes to 11!  (I hate her.)  We did go bowling at Milwaukie Bowl, because Dave Husted, the professional bowler, is a family friend, and he owns the place.  On the 8th, we left for Seaside.

July 8th - 14th:

Seaside.  The last time we'll ever stay in the house we owned.  My grandma bought that house the year I was born.  I grew up in that house.  And now she's selling it.  It fucking sucks so much.  Anyway, Seaside was the same a usual.  Well, mostly.  Harrison's Bakery was gone, and that's the place where we'd always get donuts with half inch thick frosting.  On tuesday the 10th it was hot as hell.  Like, 90 degrees in the shade.  Wednesday was the highlight of my trip, though.  Mykath, Worm, and Argus came out to spend the day at Seaside, and I met up with them.  We had a ton of fun doing pretty much nothing.  Their friend Cam ended up joining us, and he was really cool.  We played DDR and Dungeons and Dragons in the arcade, then walked to get pizza for lunch, then walked way down the prom to 11th avenue where we went out on the beach.  We then played pictionary in the blank sand with a giant piece of wood.  Then we just hung out on the sand, kinda just talking and trying to get a sand cliff to collapse on us (me and Argus, at least.)  We then just walked around town, eventually ending up at the arcade again.   I had fun, guys.  Last night was really depressing.  We packed up a lot of stuff that we wanted from the house and said our final goodbyes this morning.  We then departed on a 12 hour journey from Seaside to Sacramento, where I am now.  I'm really fucking sad.

So all in all, it was a good vacation.  And when I get back home, I have the rest of the summer to chill.

To Mykath and Worm.  I had a lot of fun, and remember when you guys were talking about your show?  Link plz?  Also, even though I didn't know Argus or Cam too well, they were really cool.  Do they have an FA or a LJ or something?

AC plans have hit a snag. Now in 3D!!

Jun. 26th, 2007 | 03:49 pm

Okay, so I started this week long camp where I learn how to do 3D modeling.  It's a lot of fun!  I made a rotating holographic planetarium on my first day!  And here's what I made today:

I found out today that out plans for going to Hawaii this Thanksgiving have been postponed until next summer.  Tentatively JULY of next summer.  I don't know the date of AC 08 yet, but I hope I find out soon, like really soon.  If I can find out the date, I can work something with my parents to change the date of Hawaii.  If I find out too late.... ehh.  Bad things.

It'll probably be announced next week, after AC 07 is over.
